a relational learning space
a slow and deep processtogetherwith the living cycles of water
Some substances transcend their physical and chemical materiality.
A scientific account of those substances is bound to disappoint.
Water is the connective tissue of existence: a relational force, the fundamental process through which life creates, holds, and nourishes itself.
Yet, despite its profound presence, water is elusive: it defies containment, resisting simple measurement, and challenges dominant epistemologies that seek to reduce reality into fixed, quantifiable units.
Within scientific and economic frameworks, water is often seen as a neutral physical and chemical entity, to be managed as a resource. Its deeper significance as a vital force shaping our psychological, ecological, and cultural landscapes remains largely overlooked.
thewaysofwater is a co-learning space and a practice to reconnect to an experience of the power of water
Water shapes itself into the spaces it enters, carving and depositing landscapes both external and internal. From the vast migrations of rivers to the hidden flows of aquifers from the waters moving through our cells to the tidal oceans of our emotions, we are entangled in its cycles.
Its infinite, incommensurable, and infinitesimal flows condition both our survival and our capacity to thrive.
thewaysofwater is a concrete praxis of deep encounters with the local watershed, a place-based learning where participants engage directly with the water cycles of the region
thewaysofwater is also a co-learning platform, to play and to engage with preparational stretchings, to meet the widening and deepening of our perception of relationship.
A participatory ecology of learning, blending physical and metaphysical insight with creative expression and collective care: to rebuild our capacity to engage with paradox and not-knowing, creating new possibilities of being in reciprocity and relation.
thewaysofwater welcomes every human being experiencing the tearing of times between worlds: the co-presence of mourning and longing, of contraction and relaxation, of beauty, ugliness, frustration, sadness, loneliness, fear, and the accelerating pushes and burdens to our world; overwhelm by the raising flood of informations, by a continuous analysis about the future and the normative, by the violence in our relationships with the female, the fragile, the natural and the sacred.
thewaysofwater honours exiled waters, removed features and capacities – oral stories and forgotten knowledge, to rebalance, to remember. It takes us on a rite of passage with water: to spiral down among the layers of the aquifer, shifting, metabolising matters and minerals, to ground ourselves, to grow up as we grow down.
Human beings deeply long for stories, for connection and contact. The “biological reality” itself constantly facilitates the development and proper expression of new relationships, of new “stories”. When two atoms, – two bodies –, come in contact, touch, meet, something unexpected results, some unforeseeable outcomes always shift forward. Water teaches us that transformation happens through contact, not control.
water harvesting becomes a necessary ecological praxis and a reconnective praxis: to remember the deep rhythms of water, not only in the rivers and rains, but in the tissues of our bodies, in the ebb and flow of our breath, in the ways we surrender to the shaping force of life’s alchemy.
